Coptic Cairo and Old Cairo Churches

historical sites. It is believed in Christian tradition that the Holy Family visited this area and stayed at the site of Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church (Abu Serga). Coptic Cairo was a stronghold for Christianity in Egypt both
before and during the Islamic era, as most of its churches were built after the Muslim conquest of Egypt in the 7th century. Continue on to the Hanging Church. The Hanging Church is named for its location above a gatehouse of Babylon Fortress, the Roman fortress in Coptic Cairo (Old Cairo). Your last stop will be at Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church, one of Egypt's oldest Coptic Christian churches, dating back to the 4th century. Your adventure concludes with a return to your hotel leaving you with the memories of Egypt's wonders.
